NCT U Shows the World Who Is ‘Boss’ in Charismatic New Video

Two years after their debut singles, NCT U returned on Sunday (Feb. 18) with some lineup changes and the dramatic leadership anthem “Boss.” “Boss” is the first of six songs planned to come out of the larger NCT 2018 group, a revised platform through which NCT’s subgroups will release music this year; an album is expected to be released in March. It is a dynamic, electro-hip-hop track about being leaders and features lyrics written by members Mark and Taeyong. The paunchy, chanting chorus of the bass-heavy dance single is offset by dulcet vocals and charismatic raps, offering up the latest “SMP,” or SM Performance, single from an SM Entertainment act. It ends with a heavy synth conclusion almost entirely void of vocals that serves as a venue for the aggressive choreography featured in...

Paps got Travis Saturday night leaving Poppy, where he actually responded to a camera guy’s question about how newborn Stormi Webster is holding up. It’s short, but descriptive. As we reported … Travis is proving to be a changed man in light of his first child coming into the world, and this video is just more evidence of that. The Houston rapper usually clams up around the paparazzi … now he’s opening up, as slow as it might be.  If you can’t tell … this is one...

Camila Cabello Lights Up ‘Dancing on Ice’ With ‘Never Be the Same’

Camila Cabello‘s “Never Be the Same” made its way to the ice with a side-rink performance on the revived British television show Dancing on Ice. The singer, dressed in a lacy black jumpsuit fitting for a figure skater, played the song on guitar on the episode that aired Sunday (Feb. 18), with people actually ice dancing around her. This sounds like it could be awfully distracting for a performer, but Cabello delivered a faithful rendition of the opening track off her debut album, Camila.  “Never Be the Same” lends its name to Cabello’s upcoming spring tour, her first solo run, which she tweeted has already sold out. Watch her bring “Never Be the Same” to the Dancing on Ice stage below. [embedded content]

Super Junior’s Kim Heechul and Min Kyunghoon Give Visibility to Developmentally Disabled People in ‘Falling Blossoms’ Video

Super Junior’s Kim Heechul and Buzz’s Min Kyunghoon released their second collaborative power ballad on Saturday (Feb. 17), and it features one of the most inclusive music videos South Korea’s seen in some time. A lilting, soft pop-rock tune that grows to a soaring, emotional cacophony, Kim and Min blend their voices on “Falling Blossoms” as they sing about the results of a sad romance. But it is the accompanying music video that steals the spotlight with its approach to representing a developmentally disabled character. In the video, Min acts as the head of the family in lieu of his father and differently-abled older brother, portrayed by Kim, but runs into trouble with gang members while trying to help his mother and brother. Kim’s character gets caught up in the conflict, and the plots ...

Of Mice & Men Tear Up New York City’s Gramercy Theatre

“I ripped my f—ing pants!” That was the post-show battle cry of one jubilant concert-goer who put a hole the size of his head in his black jeans while moshing during Of Mice & Men’s sold-out show at New York’s Gramercy Theatre on Saturday  (Feb. 17). The heavy metal band’s tight hour-long set was a lesson in organized chaos, with the general admission crowd maintaining an active mosh pit, complete with crowd-surfing, for all 14 songs. “Remember, with a rock’n’roll family this big, you’re not alone,” proclaimed lead singer and bassist Aaron Pauley proudly as he surveyed the damage being done on the floor in front of him. Since their self-titled debut was released in 2010, OM&M have gone through several lineup changes, and Pauley is the band’s newest frontman, having taken over...
