Seth Meyers Doesn’t Hold Back on Harvey Weinstein During Golden Globes Monologue

The Golden Globes have the reputation of being the looser, more fun cousin of the Oscars, but given the current climate in Hollywood — from Harvey Weinstein fallout to the #TimesUp Movement, which nearly everyone on the Globes red carpet nodded to by wearing either black or a pin — it was hard to guess where host Seth Meyers would or wouldn’t go during his opening monologue.  As it turns out, he held back no punches. “Good evening ladies and remaining gentlemen,” Meyers said at the outset of his take-no-prisoners Golden Globes monologue. “It’s 2018 and marijuana is finally allowed and sexual harassment finally isn’t… It’s been years since a white man has been this nervous in Hollywood.” Meyers also brought up a criticism levied at the Globes before they even started: “A l...

Kelly Clarkson Made an Entire Video About ‘Spirit Animal’ Meryl Streep Before Meeting Her at the Golden Globes

Kelly Clarkson met Meryl Streep on the Golden Globes red carpet, a moment that was apparently a long time coming for the singer. In fact, only a day before meeting Streep, she dedicated a whole live streaming video to her unwavering love of the actress. “She’s amazing and my spirit animal,” Clarkson said in the “Meeting Meryl,” the debut episode of Minute + A Glass of Wine, her new web series in which she plans to talk to fans about whatever’s on her mind. “I really want to meet Meryl Streep,” she emphasized. She wasn’t sure if her dream would come true at the Golden Globes (of course, it did, and the meeting was hilarious), but she was sure of one thing: “What will happen, if she doesn’t take a pee break, is she is right in...

Oprah Delivers Powerful Golden Globes #MeToo Speech for Cecil B. DeMille Award

Oprah at Golden Globes Delivers Powerful #MeToo Speech For Cecil B. DeMille Award 1/7/2018 7:36 PM PST You know it’s a movement when Oprah rocks the house with an historically powerful speech about #MeToo at the Golden Globe Awards … which it is, ’cause she did. Oprah delivered one hell of an acceptance speech after receiving the Cecil B. DeMille Award — with O being the first black woman to ever receive the honor … a milestone in itself. She touched on everything from race to gender inequality and lots of stuff in between — but it wasn’t until she rounded out her comments with a take on #MeToo that everyone got on their feet in applause. Trying to explain this one won’t do it justice … ya really just gotta hear it for yourself.

Oprah Winfrey Promises ‘A New Day Is on the Horizon’ in Triumphant Golden Globes Speech

If Oprah Winfrey ever decides to run for president — as fans have implored her to do for years — her acceptance of the Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement award at Sunday’s (Jan. 7) Golden Globes could double as her first stump speech. It certainly had Hollywood on its feet. The media mogul began her speech by recalling Sidney Poitier — an eventual Cecil B. DeMille winner himself — receiving the best actor Oscar in 1964 for Lilies of the Field and hoping she might inspire today’s children the way he inspired her then. “There are some little girls watching as I become the first black woman to receive this award,” she said, setting the tone for a speech that aimed to kick-start a new day for women in Hollywood. “Speaking your truth is t...
