Executive Turntable: New Hires and Elevations at Payday, BMG & Facebook

Adrian Nunez has been elevated to vp of A&R at Ultra Records/Payday Records and its publishing arm, Ultra International Music Publishing. Previously the director of business and legal affairs at Ultra, Nunez will advise and oversee all label artists. At Payday, the hip-hop label that relaunched this year, Nunez will foster the careers of new artists like Pell, who just released his EP girasoul, along with label vets like DJ Premiere, OJ Da Juiceman, U.K. rapper Yung Fume and NYC collective Gloss Gang.

“Adrian Nunez stands out as a great A&R talent and I’m delighted to have him working with Payday and Ultra,” said Patrick Moxey, founder and president of Ultra Records & president of electronic music at Sony Music.


Universal Publishing Production Music and Focus Music has named Jane Carter managing director for the U.K., succeeding John Clifford effective mid-January. Based in London, Carter will lead production music growth strategy and client relations for both UPPM and Focus. She’ll report to UPPM managing director Mike McCormack, who said “we needed someone for the role who could add an extra dimension to the great work the team has already done over the past few years.”


Former RCA staffer Jen Sullivan has joined Entertainment One as vp of promotion, music. Based in New York City, Sullivan will “bring fierce promo skills, great relationships and amazing energy to the team and our growing roster,” said Meg Symsyk, vp of international marketing and management. Most recently, Sullivan ran her own promotions firm, The Spin Project, and previously worked in the promotions departments of RCA and K-ROCK.


The Week’s Topline Moves:


BMG has promoted Allegra Willis Knerr to vp, film & TV licensing. Based in Los Angeles, in her new role, Willis Knerr will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and direction of the newly restructured BMG US Film & TV Licensing department. She’ll be tasked with building upon the success of the synch licensing team and will report directly to Patrick Joest, global evp of licensing and marketing. Previously, Willis Knerr was senior director of film & TV licensing. BMG has also elevated Megan Goldstein to Sr. Director, Film & TV Licensing; Chris Etscheid to Sr. Director, Film & TV Licensing Administration; and Corey Brulé to Sr. Manager, Film & TV Licensing.


Facebook has added a seasoned music business veteran to its licensing team. Music Business Worldwide reports that Perry Bashkoff, the svp of global content and revenue development at Warner Music Group, will be joining Facebook in the new year in an unspecified role.
