Metallica Announces North American Dates For Next Leg of WorldWired Arena Tour

Metallica is far from done promoting its last studio album. Hardwired… to Self-Destruct, released in Nov. 2016, was hailed by many as the metal overlords’ finest album of the 21st century, and later this year they’ll be taking tracks like “Atlas, Rise!” and “Moth Into Flame” to North American cities they missed in 2017 — some they haven’t played in decades.

Announced today (Feb. 26), this new leg of Metallica’s WorldWired Tour features 34 gigs, beginning Sept. 2 in Madison, Wisconsin, and concluding March 13 of next year in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Within that period, the quartet will hit North Dakota for the first time in 30 years and South Dakota for the first time in 25. Also included are more traditional markets such as Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Nashville.

The general public can begin purchasing tickets this Friday (March 2), following tomorrow’s pre-sales for fan club members and Citi card holders and a Spotify pre-sale Feb. 28.

Comedian Jim Breuer, a friend of the band, will open each concert alongside a house DJ with a stand-up routine, giveaways and other fan interaction.
