Despite his last tearful interview where he claimed he was a born again and had killed one,not two men,Mark Asay was killed at Florida State Prison in Raiford, Florida, for the 1987 murders of Robert Lee Booker and Robert McDowell.The 53-year-old, who was the first white man executed in Florida for killing a black man, was pronounced dead at 6.22pm.Media witnesses said it took Asay around 11 minutes to die. A Detroit man who served 25 years in prison for murder based on sham evidence has filed a lawsuit seeking more than $125million.Desmond Ricks was released in May after making the extraordinary claim that Detroit Police framed him for a fatal shooting that killed Gerry Bennett outside a restaurant in 1992. A judge reviewed the evidence and he was exonerated.An analysis of two bullets from the victim shows they don’t match the gun that was offered as the murder weapon at Ricks’ trial in 1992. He was accused of shooting a friend outside a Detroit restaurant and sentenced to at least 32 years in prison. Attorney Wolfgang Mueller says Ricks was a victim of ‘horrific’ misconduct. Police sergeant cries uncontrollably as he is dismissed, arraigned over ritual killer’s escape

The Rivers State Police Command has dismissed a police sergeant, Johnbosco Okoroeze, for allegedly aiding the escape of a suspected ritual killer, Ifeanyi Dike, from the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Port Harcourt. Okoroeze, who was also arraigned by the police before a chief magistrate’s court on two counts bordering on obstruction of justice and conspiracy, was remanded in custody for the alleged offences. Though the charges were not read to the accused, the Chief Magistrate, Sokari Andrew-Jaja, cautioned him  as he cried uncontrollably inside the court before his case was mentioned,PUNCH reports. The death of sick 2-year-old Christopher Mike-Ozugha, has been blamed on the carefree attitude of some medical workers at the Ikorodu General Hospital, Lagos State, by his Parents. Punch reports that Esther and Emmanuel Mike-Ozugha claimed that their only child, was taken to the hospital because he had difficulty in breathing.
