Patty Jenkins Posts First ‘Wonder Woman’ Sequel Set Pic, Revealing Chris Pine’s Return

Wait! Steve Trevor’s alive?

The Wonder Woman world was turned upside down on Wednesday morning (June 13) when director Patty Jenkins tossed a grenade into the blockbuster’s timeline with one simple tweet. It was the first glimpse Jenkins has provided into the filming of the $821 million-grossing sequel to the 2017 Gal Gadot-starring smash and it blew fans’ minds as it focused on Chris Pine’s character Steve Trevor.

As you might recall, cynical spy Trevor appeared to sacrifice himself at the end of the movie to save the Allied Forces from a deadly chemical weapon (though this site has plenty of ideas on how he might be resurrected). “Welcome to WONDER WOMAN 1984, Steve Trevor!” Jenkins tweeted along with a picture of what definitely looks like Pine at a circa-1984 mall wearing a Member’s Only jacket, white sneakers and casual slacks.

Fans had so many ideas about what it all meant.

Not to be outdone, star Gal Gadot also posted a back to the future pic, in which her Diana Prince is shows staring into a wall of TVs showing some classic 1980s shows, including Dallas. The movie, due out on Nov. 1, 2019 will also feature Kristen Wiig as villain Cheetah.
