Produced by Ricky Vaughn, the track serves as the follow-up to “Talk To Myself Pt. 1,” and walks listeners through Clapp’s journey with depression, self-doubt and fear of change. “As a dude that goes through periods of depression and deals with anxiety quite regularly, mental health is a super important topic to me,” he explains to HiphopDX. “It’s a topic I’ve probably been too embarrassed to talk about in the past. “I saw firsthand what it’s like to keep it all bottled in, it was empty and damaging. This song is a journey through that struggle, but also a transition out of it.” Clapp joins the increasing number of artists tac...

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Henry County prosecutors charged the Grand Hustle boss with simple assault, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct on Friday (July 13). However, he likely won’t face jail time. The security guard, Euwan James, was eventually terminated from his position for the way he handled the situation. Tip’s attorney, Steve Sadow, reportedly called the charges “baseless, ill-founded and unjustified.” “T.I. never threatened or acted in a violent manner towards Euwan James, the security guard,” Sadow said. “Indeed, we understand the security guard was fired for the way he handled the situation with T.I. “We had sincerely hoped ...

Spotlight: Commission Music Co-Founders on Breaking Lil Dicky & MadeinTYO, Being Bigger Than an Indie Label

“We’re an independent record label with management DNA and it’s very apparent in how we run things.” By Commission Music founder and CEO Anthony Martini‘s estimations, if Lil Dicky had signed with a major label three years ago he might never have even come out. “This nerdy white kid comedian rapper, it just didn’t make sense on paper but there was something unique about him,” says Martini, who was managing Lil Dicky at the time, along with Tyga and others. “There was interest, but I’d seen with other artists in the past how that goes — where they’re like, ‘Alright get in the studio, you need your single, you need a hit, you don’t have a hit yet, keep recording.’ So we took matters into our own hands a...

Boosie Badazz Goes Ballistic After Baby Mama Accuses Him Of Having Her Brother Killed

Boosie Badazz has responded to allegations brought forth by his daughter’s mother, Rochelle Wagner. On Monday (July 16), Wagner recorded a video on Instagram alleging Boosie is responsible for her brother’s death. The Baton Rouge rapper was accused of paying $2,800 to Michael “Marlo Mike” Louding to kill Wagner’s brother, Terry Boyd, in October 2009. He was acquitted of having any involvement in Boyd’s murder three years later for lack of evidence. But Wagner is clear — she believes Boosie is guilty. “I still have to deal with that,” she says. “That was mixed emotions. I couldn’t explain that to my daughter at the time. She was 5. ‘Your uncle got killed by your daddy.’ Like, that ain’t nothing I could have told her at the time, even though he got acquitted. It ain’t what the streets have. ...

Jay Rock Talks ‘Redemption,’ Favorite Studio Session With Kendrick Lamar & Staying Crime-Free: ‘The Hood Was Always Bringing Me Back’

Before Kendrick Lamar morphed into a multifaceted virtuoso in the rap world, he was once a happy role player on the sidelines for TDE. Before he trounced the competition with his visceral takes on Compton and social injustice, he patiently waited for his turn after his big brother, Jay Rock, warmed up the scene. In the early stages of TDE, the crew placed its trust on the Watts behemoth to bulldoze their way through the trenches of music. The maddening pursuit of success kept Rock and company up late at nights, especially when he experienced a bevy of delays during the release of his 2011 debut album Follow Me Home. Despite having a searing Lil Wayne feature on his 2009 single “All My Life,” he waited two years to liberate Follow Me Home. Undeterred by the delays, Rock etched a...
