Her third full-length album and debut with 4AD, ‘Three Futures,’ was released last September.
Torres, the project of singer Mackenzie Scott, has been dropped from her label 4AD, according to a Twitter post on Monday (April 16).
According to Scott, she had signed a three album deal with the popular independent label but now she has been cut loose “for not being commercially successful enough.”
Torres’ third full-length album and debut with 4AD, Three Futures, was released last year. It failed to land on any Billboard charts. Previously, her 2015 album, Sprinter, peaked at No. 20 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums chart.
Billboard reached out to 4AD for comment but did not receive any response by time of publishing.
My former label, @4AD_Official, has decided to drop me from a 3 album deal for not being commercially successful enough. I wish them all the best. Also, fuck the music industry. Xo, Mackenzie
